In our first instalment, we speak to Founder of Leeds-based agency One-Two: Digital - Laura Holyer. Laura has a wealth of experience in digital marketing, having worked in house at Fusion Unlimited before setting up her own consultancy in 2017.
She specialises in helping SMEs grow their businesses through digital marketing. Q: What's the number one thing that can help strengthen a relationship with a client?
Transparency! It sounds quite simple and obvious but I’ve found it’s one of the biggest things that has helped us work with clients for many years. Not everything works well in marketing, and sometimes things really tank. Agencies have a tendency to only talk about the good stuff so I’ve found having an honest and open dialogue with clients has been one of the key drivers in strengthening client relationships.Â
I’ve been in tricky situations with clients before, where we’ve made an error and had to own it. Paid money back to the client, laid our cards on the table on what happened, what we’d do as a result and how we’d work together to get the trust back. The client could have easily walked away at this point but chose to continue working with us from having these open and honest conversations.
